Inheriting Blessings Dear Sunrise Family, I am excited to share that starting this week, we will embark on a new sermon series titled "Inheriting Blessings." Over the coming weeks, we will explore what it means to inherit the blessings God has for us and how we can fully embrace these gifts in our lives. Throughout Scripture, we see that God desires to bless His people abundantly. Inheritances are not just about material possessions but rather the spiritual treasures that shape our identity as children of God. From His unconditional love to the gift of grace, these blessings call us to live in a way that reflects His goodness. In Romans 8:17, we are reminded, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory..” This powerful truth assures us that we are part of a divine inheritance that is rich in grace, love, and purpose. Throughout our journey together in this series, we will explore what it means to be heirs of Christ and the profound blessings that come with our identity as children of God. In Ephesians 1:3, we are reminded that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. This inheritance is ours to claim, and it calls us to share those blessings with one another. Remember, inheriting blessings is not just about receiving but also about living out God’s purpose for us, shining His light in the world. Inheriting blessings is rarely an automatic process; it often requires the active participation of the believer through faith. The “possession” of the land requires a march of faith. In Joshua 18, the Israelite were rebuked for being “slack” or “lazy” in possessing the land God had already given them. This serves as a metaphor for the Christian life: God has provided the “Promised Land” of spiritual rest and provision, but the believers must “march in” through prayer and confession. Inheritances often evoke thoughts of material wealth, but as believers, we are called to recognize the spiritual gifts bestowed upon us. James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from above. This includes love, grace, wisdom, and community. So let us appreciate the blessings that fill our lives: the support of one another, the beauty of creation, and the hope we have in Christ. We inherit not just for ourselves but to share with others, spreading joy and love in our Sunrise community and beyond. Inheriting blessings means recognizing that we are part of God's family, chosen for a purpose. Each of us has unique gifts and talents designed to do good works (Ephesians 2:10) and to serve one another in love (Galatians 5:13). When we embrace our identity as heirs, we become conduits of God's grace, sharing our blessings within our community. Let’s cultivate a gratitude-filled attitude. Instead of focusing on what we lack, let us rejoice in what we have and share it joyfully. We are called to be stewards of these blessings, using them to uplift those around us. I encourage us all to open our hearts and minds as we take this journey together. Let’s seek to understand how we can inherit, celebrate, and share God’s blessings in our church, our families, and our lives. Amen!
