May this city see your glory

Rev. Gary Shek

“He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is his name.” (Psalm 111:9)

Dear brothers and sisters, two weeks later is Hong Kong Day of Prayer. Are you ready? It is not because of October 1, nor is it about any denominations, it is our heavenly father’s heart. Jesus being the head and it is the great thing about His body.

“From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”(Matthew 4:17) Jesus said the kingdom of heaven has come near. Today should we not alert and pray, truly repent and welcome Jesus’ second coming? May the Lord open our eyes. When we see the conditions of the world, there are disasters, typhoons, floods, fire and earthquakes. Besides, there are terrible attacks, country attack country. Urbanization brought diseases, pressure, depression and even suicide. They are all increasing.

Prayer let us come close to the heart of heavenly father

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”(Luke 22:42)

Many Christians pray according to their will, true prayer is to allow heavenly father’s will accomplish in us. May His kingdom come, May his will be done on earth as it is on heaven. Therefore, praying with the Word can help us to understand his will more. We use his will to cry out, satisfy His heart and please him.

Prayer help us to be united

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” (Philippians 2:1-2)

It can only be accomplished when we walk together, get to know each other, understand each other’s weakness, see others as stronger than ourselves, and be united in the truth, it is the heart of heavenly father. In the process of organizing Hong Kong Day of Prayer, we have made more connections, it is also more effective in the use of resources.

Prayer helps us experience the power of the Holy Spirit

“So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.” (Acts 12:5) In the Bible many miracles happened when disciples prayed in unity. What prayers can do, my hands cannot do. Because the church earnestly prayed to God, Peter experienced a supernatural rescue from the prison. In the end times of disastrous days, we have to pray more in order to face these adversities.

Dear brothers and sisters, how is your prayer life? Are you willing to come together to seek heavenly father’s heart, seek the same idea and experience the power of Holy Spirit?
