On June 8 when I opened yahoo web, I was caught by news about a man in Texas, USA nearly died when he was bitten by the severed head of a meter rattlesnake.
According to his wife Jennifer Sutcliffe, her husband had been clearing their yard over Memorial Day weekend when he saw a rattlesnake and chopped the head. When he picked up the dead rattlesnake to dispose it, the head bit him and released an almost fatal amount of venom. A severed head still bite? This seems impossible too good to be true. But the scriptures also reminded us, the struggles of Apostle Paul
“ For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. “(Romans 7:19-20 NKJV)
Like the dead rattlesnake our old self can still bite or attack us.
So, what would we do? The scriptures gives a very specific reminder, say “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5).
Meaning you have to:
1. Decide to submit your life to Jesus under his full control- That is opening your heart to Jesus and let Him lead you.
2. Let the Holy Spirit fills you- The Holy Spirit empowers you to totally put to death whatever belongs to your earthly natures.
3. Exercise your faith – Faith without action is dead!
Blessed Sunday my beloved Brethren.
