This week I share with you the remaining six signs of a true church:
7. Holy Living
People that Jesus Christ saved originally were sinners. Therefore they need blood of Jesus to redeem them. The aim is to set them apart to be a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9). Therefore a community that really follows Jesus lives a holy life.
8. Altar
The legacy of a true church began from Abraham building an altar (Genesis 12:7-8). Abraham and God have communication and contact. Church is not men’s organisation, it is a community that has relationship with God. God has set up prayer, worship and praise so that men and God has good fellowship and establish close relationship.
9. Miracle
Since the first day of Pentecost church has miracles follow them (Mark 16:17, Acts 2:43). Because God is a supernatural God, God has made something out of nothing. Miracles followed Jesus, the twelve disciples, later has Paul, deacons etc. Because God is with disciples, God does His work.
10.Giving with Love
The early church experienced the great work of Holy Spirit, everyone was willing to share (Acts 2:44-45), this was the touch of Jesus on people (Luke 19:8). Also through giving, people gave God the glory (2 Cor. 9:11-13).
11. Gather together
Since the first day of the early church, the disciples of Jesus gathered together (Acts 2:44-46). They have holy communion to memorial of God, share with each other, it was not the life of a lonely island. God was in their midst (Matthew 18:20).
12. To be disciples
The final legacy that Jesus left the disciples was Jesus’s great commission. The great commission’s main task is to make disciples. If discipleship training leaves the church, it is equal to leaving Jesus’ unfinished commission. Then church will become an ordinary organisation, cannot be truly salt and light of the world.
