We are all expected by the Lord Jesus to grow in the grace and knowledge of his son Jesus Christ. (2Peter 3:18). But the sad realities are many are still struggling to grow and mature in their Christian life. Why? Let me share something hope this this will help us remove those hindrances to our Spiritual progress.
1. Lack of Knowledge of God – Jesus was crucified by those rulers of the Ancient Jews because they don’t have knowledge of God as Apostle said to the Corinthian church, “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8).
Hosea also said it very clearly, “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children” (Hosea 4:6). God words to Hosea is very strong reminder for all of us who until now pretended to have known God but the fact they don’t really know God. Why I said this because many are not living obeying his word. Your knowledge of God is always manifested in your life.
How can you overcome this hindrance for your spiritual growth? Read Gods Word consistently and devotionally. Prophet Isaiah instructed the people of Israel “Look in the scroll of the LORD and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate. For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Spirit will gather them together”. Isaiah 34:16.
The Psalmist described the word of God so beautifully “ Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105). In our church we understand the importance of the Word of God for our growth. That is why in our bulletin we have posted it. Hope you are reading it every day. We have prepared Bible reading for your breakfast, Lunch and dinner.
My dear brethren our calling in Sunrise was not just help you become a believer. You are here to be a disciple of Christ that will be discipling others. Study the word of God. “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8
