Light amidst the dark
It seems that in these days of social unrest, demonstrations and violence and impending strikes, we cannot see light. If we are close to our Lord and familiar with His words, we will understand these things do happen. "At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, ...but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." Matthew 24:10-13
During these days, we need God's words-- His promises and hope, which will enable us to be blameless in this age, and bring forth light amidst the darkness.
Knowing our position is a sure win
" We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." 1 John 5:19
Warring in the flesh leads to failures. This is a spiritual battle. When I was asked which side I was on, I said I am on the side of God. God loves us! He loves every soul and only He is just. As one created by Him, I refrain to make quick judgement or being self righteous. Jesus prayed for his disciples, "My prayer is not that you take them out of this world but that you protect them from the evil one." (John 17:15.) If we hate each other, we fall into the trap of the evil one.
God's words are light
"Your word is a lamp for my feet a light on my path." psalm 119:105
Recently I held a disciples' meeting in a restaurant. One brother got really worked up about the recent affairs and his voice can be heard aloud! I invited all to read the Bible to see how Jesus handled political persecution. In 20 minutes' time, all others in the restaurant heard our prayers, and the brother also calmed down due to the Holy Spirit.
Bearing fruit of the light
Ephesians 5:8-10 " For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord."
Jesus has modeled goodness, righteousness and faithfulness in dark days. He did not betray his holiness despite man's devious ways. Judgement on earth is not righteous, but due to His love for us, He let himself to be judged by sinners to save us! His love for us is out of the ordinary!
Dear brothers and sisters, may we not only see light amidst the dark, but let us encourage each other, love each other, and be sons of the light, bear fruit, and choose to follow God's path of holiness and righteousness, amen!
