THE NEW NORMAL

Have you heard this term “new normal”? This used by many to describe the new things that is going on this time. An example of this is wearing mask. This become now a new normal seeing all people with mask. Before when we saw people wearing mask, when thought they have health problem, sometimes we keep our distance from them. Now when see people with no mask we stay a safe distance from them. Many new normal things were being adopted already by people nowadays. Like the gay marriages, conversation becomes more on text rather voice.

Before the inventions of text messages, we always hear people talking everywhere on phone. But now most conversation were on text messages this too becomes a new normal. The technology evolve so fast that contributed to these rapid changes in our environment and ways of life.

I am not against having the new normal being adopted by our society. But as believers we need to be discerning what are the new normal, we need to adopt.

Temporarily we should adopt “Online Church” because of social distancing law from the government. But when the law is removed, we should come back to gather.

As the scripture says “Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”- Hebrews 10:25.

God has given us wisdom on how we live as believers in this modern world that changes so fast. One thing you should keep in your heart, God’s law of life and his standard never change. The Bible is still the best guide in our life as believers. You must read it and knows it by heart. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” 2Timothy 3:16-17.

Every new normal thing the world offers it should pass through the scripture test. What do I mean when I say by this? If any new normal things the world is offering you to adopt, it must not contradict to what the Bible teaches. If it contradicts, then you cannot follow it. Or you will guilty of breaking God’s law or in sinning against God.

Still today the command of the Lord to go and make disciples does not changes.(Matthew 28:19-20) so with his command to love him with all your hearth strength and souls and love others (Matthew 22:37-40). I’ve heard someone says “we modern Christians need not to share the Gospel, or we are breaking the rights of others to have their rights to believe on what they believe. I should say, this is wrong. You must share Jesus and persuade them to believe so that they will be saved and have eternal life. Think about this, you see a kid in the middle of the road playing. You also see

a ten-wheeler truck is coming towards the kid. What would you do?

Of course, you do all your best to save that kid from being run over by the truck. So, you will go and push him aside to save him. That is exactly the reason why you need to share Jesus. Many out there dying without Jesus and in danger of hell and we all know only their faith in Jesus can save them. 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? Romans 10:13-14.

With the world changing so fast, make sure to know the Word of God, love it and live with it. So, when the world offers us new normal – we have a guide.

Be faithful to serve the Lord. Stay safe and let us continue fasting and praying for the successful Hong Kong Prayer Day coming October 1.
