Having recently returned from a short-term mission trip to the sheep of His pasture, Taishan, Guangdong, I would like to share some of our experience in this trip.
Our group of four travelled to Taishan, Guangdong for this mission. Our leader, Sister Huang, an elderly sister in the faith, is now in her eighties. The other two members were also in their seventies, including Sister Sun who had returned from the United States. She participates in this mission at least once or twice annually. Owing to their age and physical limitations, they move rather slowly. Yet we bear witness for their passion for the Gospel, their courageous love for the Lord and His the Good News. I came to understand what is counted worthy. We visit Taishan twice yearly, once in April and again in October. We have maintained for a decade. We give thanks unto God unceasingly.
Our group attends the local church's worship service. Then, they took us to visit homes for the elderly, and hospitals. Upon arrival, we lead worship using Qchord instruments to play hymns and praise the Lord. The joy of the Lord fill us. We sang together, built them up with God's Word, explained the beauty of redemption and grace using the five-coloured beads, and led people to say the sinners prayer.
Thank God for reminding us what manner of persons we ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, as we enjoy our sweet fellowship with our brethren there in Christ.
Upon our second visit, we returned to strengthen their faith, worshipping together, praying for them, and build their faith in Jesus. We called for justice, plead for truth together, we wait for light and brightness.
Last year, we visited an elderly sister, Zhu Yuxiu, who had already accepted Jesus. Her granddaughter and grandson were believers who had shared the gospel with her. However, her daughter and son-in-law, along with her son and daughter-in-law, did not receive Christ. Moreover, her son and daughter-in-law, along with villagers, persecuted her, causing her to feel deeply discouraged. Yet, when we revisited her, we worshipped and sang hymns together, praying for her. She was admonished , and she was filled with joy. Moreover, as we prepared to depart, she warmly presented us with gifts, expressing gratitude for our journey from afar to visit her in the countryside. Testimonies like ths are numerous, and I shall not recount them all here. The Lord has helped us bring forth fruit.
Thanks to God’s grace, we just do what we should do, and they feel God’s love and Jesus’ all-sufficient grace and salvation. Mission work is the calling of every pastor, brother, and sister. It is our lifelong task, something we can undertake at any moment. Praise and thanks be to the Lord! Amen!
