Seeing Victory in Setback

The theme of the church over these past months has been life transformation. In the process of life transformation, one must inevitably experience countless setback and setback itself is a vital part of this transformation!

One brother has persistently learned driving over the past two years. Despite repeatedly failing his driving test, he kept trying. He sat the test six times, each time filled with hope of passing, only to return disappointed. Moreover, he consistently struggled to face his own failures. His soul is vexed with distress.

Recently, another factor to his repeated failure once more. He asked God why he kept failing, and God revealed that he was deeply troubled by his failures, feeling ashamed and burdened by his shortcomings weighed on others. He sought God's healing, and God showed him that holding fast to one's failures only perpetuates them. True victory comes only by fixing eyes upon God!

Blessed is the one who hearken to His voice. So he fastened his eyes earnestly upon Jesus.

Thus, last month, this brother went forth and took his driving test for the seventh time. As with the previous six attempts, he was filled with hope of passing, yet the outcome mirrored the previous six times. The difference lay in his reaction upon learning the result: unlike before, he found himself laugh it off with ease. His laughter stilled the voice of avenger. His heart received strength. The times of refreshing comes from the presence of God. Though he had failed again, in his attitude towards failure, he had already triumphed! Hence his ability to laugh it off so lightly!

Therefore, brothers and sisters, do not fear failure. God can help you triumph even in the midst of it!
