God is heedful of our New Year. The Jewish New Year was celebrated during the Feast of
Hello Church, Grace and peace be with you all and welcome this morning, to our visitors we are glad you are here to worship with us.
This is only our second week into the New Year 2024; God’s new cycle of His schedules with His promises and blessings. it’s my honour to remind us all and to call upon us all to this subject ‘Serving God in 2024’. Serving God is not just a duty or a responsibility; it is a privilege and a profound opportunity to make a difference in the world around us.
In order for us to be able to serve God in this year 2024, we need to seek Him and be filled with His Love and Grace, and after we have been filled we can then go and serve Him to those who are empty. You cannot give what you don’t have! Apostle Peter writes in his second letter how we can be filled, or call it spiritual maturity, 2 Peter 1:5-9 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
In the scriptures, we are reminded time and again of the importance of serving God. Jesus himself said, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). These words remind us that our call to serve is rooted in the example set by our Lord and Savior.
As we navigate the challenges and uncertainties of the year 2024, it is crucial that we approach our service to God with a renewed sense of purpose and dedication. The world is in desperate need of hope, love, and compassion. It is our duty as followers of Christ to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a hurting world.
Serving God in the year 2024 requires us to adapt to the changing times while staying true to our faith. We must embrace technology as a tool to spread the message of God's love and connect with others. Let us utilize social media, online platforms, and other digital resources to share the good news and encourage one another in our faith.
Furthermore, serving God in 2024 means embracing diversity and inclusivity. We live in a world filled with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. It is our responsibility to welcome all and show them the love of Christ. Let us be intentional in reaching out to those who are marginalized, oppressed, or forgotten, and extend a helping hand to those in need.
To serve God means to do His will and it includes doing what He commands us to do . It is not enough that we mentally recognize that there is a God, we must do what God commands us to do. In John 10:27 , Jesus said: “My sheep hear my voice.and in John 12:26 he said My Father will honor the one who serves me.
2024 is our year of taking courage to rise up and serve God ! Amen ！
