THANKSGIVING

In my opinion, Thanksgiving Day should be and must be an annual national holiday for all Christians. The Bible told us to Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34). Thanksgiving as an opportunity to express our gratitude to God’s ever present grace , mercy, love, the abundance in our lives, the good relationships we have with our friends and families, our opportunities, our health in honor and gratitude to our Father in heaven. As the song says we have 10,000 reasons to give thanks to God. One of the key elements of our “thanksgiving” should be our heart of Humility – that is characterized by our repentance, obedience, Worship and lifestyle.

Repentance – Remember we are all sinners and fall from the grace of God. But God’s love is so amazing, He sacrificed for every one of us at the cross (Jesus dies) and saves us. With that, acknowledging and confessing and repenting of your sins today is one of the key elements of your thanksgiving. As the bible says “leave your offering there at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come and present your offering. “(Matthew 5:24).

Obedience – to every command God has given to you through Jesus Christ. Every command in the Bible must be followed. Because it is order by the King of Kings and the Lord of lord. In the old days when you disobey the King’s order you will be in trouble as soon as possible. But thanks be to God for his GRACE and MERCY. We are still alive today.

WORSHIP and Lifestyle – In the very beginning God blessed Adam and Eve to be fruitful fill the earth. (Gen 1:26). Fill the earth with what? bad people? of course not! Fill the earth with WORSHIPERS. The goal of Jesus was to bring back all people to Worship Him in Spirit and n Truth” (John 4:24). Missions, Evangelism and Disciple Making will soon stop when Jesus Christ return. But Worship will continue in heaven. So desire to worship God today. And “Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:19-20).

If you are a Christian who does not celebrate it, nevertheless, be sure to pause regularly and give special thanks to God. Whether with holidays or without, a heart of thanksgiving ought to define the Christian.

Weekly Scriptures.
