The Lord is My Shepherd

"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." (NIV, Psalm 23:1-6)

Psalm 23 , with our mouth we make known His faithfulness with much assurance. It is only six verses long, but it calls unto deep. Let's meditate on how David, his mouth indited such a noble matter concerning the King, when his own life was threatened. 　 The last stanza agrees with the first stanza. "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want", a promise which is also made clear in the last verse, an eternal promise "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD .

David set forth , resolve and made firm decision that the LORD is our Great Shepherd, and David responded to God all the days of his life. God gives grace, man needs to make a decision to respond to it. The fellowship between God and man is in grace. But with all the affliction, the wickedness in the world, we especially in times of trouble, can we stand firm in our faith and seek God's help? As in verses 4-5, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me. Thou hast made a feast for me in the presence of my enemies; thou hast anointed my head with oil, and hast filled my cup of blessing to overflowing.

God! Teach us to have the mind of Christ in David , to know and understand that Thou art a loving, gracious, mindful protecting, and ever-loving God, and to strengthen our faith in Thy faithfulness. We can enjoy the Your peace that lasts forever.

I also entrust our church's "valley of darkness and lack" to the Lord, who will bring us out of the valley of darkness, and set a table for us in front of the "enemy'", so that our cup of blessing will overflow! For Thou art a God of abundance and Amen!
