In 1Samuel 15. We can read the story of King Saul disobedience, arrogance, and excuses. There is a lot of lesson we can learned from this story. Let me give you some of the revelations God given to me from this chapter.
The story begins God talking to prophet Samuel to tell King Saul to attack the Amalekites – because of their sins [1Sam 15:3]. King did attack the Amalekites but did not follow all the instructions of God. [1 Sam 15:9-10]. He also became proud and want to set a monument for himself at Mt Carmel [1 Sam 15:12]. When he was confronted by Samuel, why he not killed all the animals which God instructed him to do. He makes excuses, is not him the soldiers brought those animals so it can be offered to God.
22 Samuel said,
“Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrificesAs in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.
[1Samuel 15:22]
King Saul faced a terrible consequences of this disobedience. Thinking that as long as he can offer to God he will be fine with God.
My dear Brethren, the God who discipline King Saul is the same God that we worship in our church. what does it mean , if you follow King Saul disobedience , King Saul arrogance, King Saul excuses, then you too will face the same consequences. God hate sin. You cannot appease God if you sin by giving him offering him, serving him sacrificing for him. Without obedience to all the command of God – Repentance, love, forgiveness, and etc. regardless of what you do will not make God happy. You will face the consequences of your sins.
“TO OBEY Is BETTER THAN SACRIFICE” you can sacrifice without obedience , But you cannot obey without sacrifice. May God bless you all..
Start obeying God regardless of anything. Keep safe, Keep Praying, Keep Sharing the Love of God to others.
